Mark Weston founded Weston Legal at the end of 2023 as a boutique legal and business services firm, after almost 30 years as a practising English solicitor and after many years as Head of the Commercial, Technology and IP Team in London at Hill Dickinson LLP. He previously worked at MAB and Baker McKenzie, and brings to Weston Legal long-established experience in commercial law, technology law, intellectual property, media, data, regulatory issues and digital business.
Mark and his team advise clients on commercial contracts, business law and practice, technology law, intellectual property, media law, data protection, privacy, AML, MLRO issues, financial crime, regulatory compliance and digital business. The firm also advises on dispute resolution and has a specialist practice in regulatory defence, combining legal analysis with practical commercial judgement for clients operating in fast-moving, highly regulated and technology-driven markets.
Weston Legal’s commercial work covers the full range of trading and operational arrangements that modern businesses need, including sales and marketing arrangements, distribution, agency, franchising, software development, licensing, maintenance and distribution, SaaS and cloud services, ecommerce, online platforms, outsourcing and digital business models. The firm also advises on advertising law, content exploitation, social networks, gaming platforms, AI, fintech, payments, cryptoassets and emerging technologies.
The firm’s experience extends across both non-contentious and contentious work, including commercial and technology disputes, intellectual property issues, information technology matters, Internet and online services, media and digital business generally. Weston Legal helps clients structure, negotiate, document and resolve legal and commercial issues in a way that reflects how businesses actually operate, how revenue is generated and protected, and how risk is managed in practice.
Mark also has a specialist niche practice in professional regulatory defence, advising where complaints, investigations, compliance concerns or reputationally sensitive issues require careful handling.
